Deary deary deary me... That site looks to be all rather childishly
jaundiced...

Given good beer (or whatever beverage) and some nibbles, such a first
install for Gentoo or "Linux From Scratch" /should/ be fun and
educational. For my first attempt at Gentoo, the time flew by but in a
very useful way for finding out how things worked at each step.

For the next installs, there was barely a need to follow the recipe...
The understanding that was gained make the pieces nicely fit together in
their own logical sequence.

(Also, Gentoo is the only distro I use that has the flexibility to work
well on certain old quirky hardware.)

And then we have the various distros that have put all the pieces
together under (almost) a single click for those in greater haste.
