Nic,Can you please try pressing Esc when you see lm logo. I expect you’ll see log entries then and that might give a clue. Look for error messages or when the system hangs for long on some task. By the way, did you give it enough time to boot? Booting from an old USB (I doubt they make 2GB ones nowadays) can be veeeeryyyy slooooooooooooooow :)Or maybe it’s just unreliable.--vadim at mankevich.co.uk PGP key fingerprint0xC046022A3A91455AF0C9BB2404BF882B1905C772Retrieve from hkps://pgp.mit.eduor https://keybase.io/vmankevich---- On Fri, 23 Apr 2021 17:36:33 +0100 Nic Deane via Nottingham<nottingham at mailman.lug.org.uk> wrote ----
Hi Martin,
As per previous email. I've tried as below. I think I need to
water on our allotment. So, if you have a bit of time this evening
that would be a better time. You're probably working now anyway.
Many thanks, Nic
It was good to sit in with you all last night. We have moved from
BT to TalkTalk and are now with Vodafone over similar Broadband
issues. Again, as you said, if you can get to tlk with an adviser
you can usually get a more sensible deal!
You said to email you about the ACEPC AK2 problem. Here's an
update.
This afternoon I formatted a 2GB USB stick first with LMDE 4 and
then, when at failed, I tried formatting the stick with Mint 20.1
with the same results.
I went into the BIOS and set it boot from he 2GB USB stick and
en fired t up. Both times I got the same result.
HDMI -> ACEPC -> lm logo -> Blinking cursor......
nothing more!
When I switch off it just goes back to the lm logo and then goes
blank.
Any ideas from here?
My mobile phone is 07712-153882.
I am using my Samsung netbook with Linux Mint MATE installed so
I can receive emails while trying to work on the ACEPC and my LG
monitor which I've unhooked from my Mintbox 2 Pro.
Are you free now for a few minutes?
Nic

There probably should be a talk, but I don't think there is
anything planned. Things we could discuss:
Why is Ubiqiti to flamin' expensive?
Is TP-Link Omada a viable alternative? (Answer: almost,
but not quite)
Why not just configure OpenWRT as a "dumb" AP and be
done with it?
If we can send a rocket into space carrying a robot,
that carries a robot, that also carries a robot that can
fly around Mars; why can't we have printers that *JUST

If someone screams in 5G, is there any sound after the
CGNAT traversal and contention induced latency?
Are air fryers an active threat to your cyber-security?
If you've decided to solve your SSO issues with MS's

problems.
Whatever else you happen to bring along
Grab some drinks and nibbles, pull up an opinion
(probably best if it's your own, but it doesn't have to be)
and feel free to join in. Even if it is to just say "Hi!"
All welcome & stay safe!
