Hi Greg,

It might be worth taking a look at our Open Source software called 
Enterprise Groupware System - http://www.enterprisegroupwaresystem.org - 
it already does a fair few of the bits that you require and most of the 
asset management is there too (although that will be available in the 
next release available next month).
