[Phpwm] Synch with iCal and Outlook

Hi,
Just something that came up in conversation at work today and I didn't have an answer for - Has anyone managed to synch iCal and/or ms outlook with a php web based system?

I've read about sending output with a content-type text/x-vCalender but i'm assuming that these files then have to be manually added to people's calenders. Or maybe they could be mailed across?

Any suggestions would be helpful.
