Yep... we do exactly the same, I've lost count how many times I've said
"under no circumstances copy and paste directly from Word!" and they
still do it and wonder why it all goes to hell afterwards... As with
others I'd love to find a solution to this.

I always recommend people just paste the copy into Notepad first, then
copy+paste from there into the WYSIWYG editor, and use the builtin
formatting tools to get ot to display as required. Takes a little more
effort to train them up but saves so much time long-term.
