Hi Peter,

I look at twitter as a way of subscribing to various people I find
interesting (e.g the wife, guardian newspaper, national trust, local
people etc).

Each message posted on twitter is at most 140 characters, so they're
quick to read, and (generally) not full of marketing drivel.

As a twitter user, you decide which people you wish to follow - you then
see a 'stream' populated by the posts they make.

The only disadvantage is that you can't say "I'll follow PeterCrouch's
tweets on foobarSubject only and ignore his gardening tips".

So, in this instance, you could 'follow' the PHPWM user on twitter. When
I then post anything as that user, you'd see these postings in your stream.

Twitter is sort of similar to using RSS feeds, however it's all in one
place and the post size is limited.

Twitter therefore is great for announcing e.g. an article on something -
but obviously not for posting the article itself (due to the 140
character limit!).

Does that help? Perhaps others can come up with a better description.

David.
