> This is a general technical role, concerned with all aspects of maintaining & supporting the technology & software required for the running of the company. It encompasses both internal & external infrastructure requirements, including the development of existing and new systems using PHP & MySQL. The focus of development is frontend (HTML/Javascript/etc) but also includes internal systems and backend development where appropriate.

> ·Participation in the design & development of software systems & components needed to support infrastructure requirements.

> ·Developing primarily with PHP & MySQL, in combination with OS level scripts/tools to aid Intranet / Extranet development, and the ongoing design & development of internal infrastructure functionality.

> ·Developing original, bespoke solutions to address the server side technology requirements of client sites. Utilising web based technologies such as JQuery, RSS, SOAP, XML/RPC and AJAX.

> ·Participation in the design & development of Bloc proprietary technology, including R&D necessary to find innovative solutions to novel problems.

> ·Maintaining and updating existing PHP scripts, both internally and on public web sites. Assisting other members of staff with requests for ad hoc code changes and support.

> ·Supporting the development of server side projects using technology other than PHP/MySQL, such as ASPs, JSPs, & J2EE. No prior knowledge of other programming technologies is assumed, but a willingness to acquire new skills as necessary is a prerequisite.
