=====================================
Preston & Lancashire Linux User Group

        Meeting - 30 Oct 2002
=====================================

Thank you to all who attended last night's meeting. In brief for those who
couldn't make it...

Agenda
======

1 - Frequency of the meetings / Keeping attendance higher
2 - Maybe move to start of the month so everyone has been paid!
3 - Ideas for keeping the mailing list flowing
4 - New locations for meetings and install days
5 - New ideas for promoting PLUG
6 - User group projects / tutorials
7 - The new website

Minutes
=======
The group has been running for a year now and we have about 80 active
members as I recently un-subscribed anyone with a dead e-mail address. The
agenda from last night's meeting was intended to start moving the group
forward a little.

1&2 - This was discussed and it was agreed that we keep the meetings once a
month and move the date to the first Wednesday in each month. We decided to
skip next month and have the next meeting in December. Unfortunately I will
be away on the 4th of December so unless there are any objections can we
make the next meeting on the Wednesday the 11th of December.

3 - Not really discussed at the meeting, any ideas?

4 - It was mentioned that the pub was a nice and relaxed environment for us
to meet and that perhaps meetings and some social events could continue
there but also that a new location could bring forward some new activities,
such as an install / debug day and maybe some informal tutorials. We have a
location available to us in Leyland, the one used in September and some of
the members are still looking in to the possibility of a room in the
University.

5 - Not really discussed at the meeting, any ideas?

6 - The idea of informal tutorials or workshops was discussed and it was
agreed that this would be a good idea and much more practical once we have a
room. Group projects as discussed at some previous meetings could then come
forward from this.

7 - The website is going to get a re-design and hopefully become more useful
as a community based website. The site map below is a starter but any
comments would be gratefully received.
