Here's the output of:
apt-cache search kernel-image-2.4
If you have already installed Debian with the 2.2 kernel you could upgrade to 
a 2.4 kernel by typing:
apt-get install kernel-image-2.4(whatever package suits you best)
Pick from the list below. It's that simple!
I think you should really compile your own.  ;-)
