Hello all,
If anyone feels up to a trip down the M6, the UK's only
event entirely devoted to Free Software takes place
in Birmingham this weekend.
Non-members can attend by joining AFFS, which remains
staggeringly cheap, and "The Right Thing To Do" (TM), if
you want to protect and promote the use of Free Sofware
in the UK. Last year's do was a great event, and well worth
the trip.

The Association for Free Software's Annual General Meeting .
The Association for Free Software's Annual Conference, will take place at
Handsworth Grammar School, Birmingham, this coming Saturday (15 May 2004),
starting at 10am. The conference is free to all members and lunch is being
provided, but registration in advance is needed to be sure of conference
tickets and to help us plan the event.
Selection of speakers confirmed so far:
Brian Gough, "Free software: the year in review"
John Pinner, "A Free Software Payroll : Sense or Suicide"
Tony Whitmore, "Core Linux: Learning Through Compiling"
Tom Chance, "The Open Information Pledge"
Details and the registration form are online at

on an ongoing basis. Please email frontdesk at affs.org.uk if you want more
information.
People who apply to join AFFS now are also welcome
at the AGM, which takes place later that day at 4pm, but won't be members in
time to actually vote at the AGM.
