Hello,
Here's a list of forthcoming topics and their dates for PLUG meetings. Were
also looking for volunteers...
02/02/05 - Databases on Linux: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle.
Hosted by: John, Guy
02/03/05 - Virtual Machine Monitors
Hosted by: Phil
06/04/05 - Wireless networks / Captive Portals
Hosted by: Gareth, Stephen
04/05/05 - Networking with X Windows & SSH + Synergy
Hosted by: Guy + someone who knows about synergy.
We then have a gap where no-one has volunteered to host.
June -> September inclusive.
Some topics of interest were suggested:
Firewalls / proxies / iptables
VPN / freeswan
CVS / subversion / kdevelop
Distributed filesystems
If you know a little about the aformentioned topics and would be prepared to
host a meeting please let Guy Heatley or Phil Robinson know. (Or any other
Linux related topic for that matter!)
Remember, you don't need to be an expert, just have had enough experience to
direct the discussion at the meeting. The meetings are informal open
workshops not lectures! Its just a bit of fun!
Then we have:
05/10/05 - Newbie meeting: Introduction for new Linux users
Hosted by: Regulars
02/11/05 - Linux Office Productivity
Hosted by: Regulars (to follow on from last meeting)
We'll try to get some Knoppix CD's for these two meetings
07/12/05 - Linux games + graphics acceleration config
Hosted by: Gareth, Stephen
PS check out http://www.losystems.co.uk/ for Linux LAN gaming
here at the Uni, run by G + S
Best regards!
Guy Heatley
