Desktop user problem

Suse 9.2 Pro 2.6.8.2-4 kernel

CPU runs at 53 - 56ºC
Have disabled screensaver
Box konks out after an hour or so if left idle, or downloading or
listening to radio, only option to power down manually (ooh, Ihate dong
that!) can't go away and leave it.

Any ideas?
