[Preston] italian newbye need help

I arrived in preston last week.......
where may I surf 4 free with my laptop ( Hp dv6000- ubuntu 7.10)?

I've tried at the university library but I'm not a student and I
cant use the workstation as well.....

to be honest I tried to plug in the wall with an eth cable
with pppoeconf but didnt work.......
