I think I should be able to make a regular thing of PLUG meetings say,
by the start of the new academic year in September. Then we could book a
Uni room on the strength of me being staff here.

Why not fall back to meeting in the pub until then? Unless anyone else
has a better venue in mind?

Obviously the pub is not optimal but at least its a meeting!

We used to go to the Greyfriar (on Ringway) after the Uni meetings at
about 9pm.

Actually, for new members the Greyfriar is possibly the worst possible
pub to pick, as it is so large, and you feel a bit of a tit going up to
geeky looking people and asking them if they're Linux users ;-)

Phil Robinson (the original founder of PLUG, and a legend in his own
Kung-fu dojo) used to bring an inflatable Tux penguin with him to
identify us.

Preston pubs are getting more and more scarce, but I could suggest the
New Brit down Heatley St (next to the music shop). Its small and cosy
and I can't imaging it would be too busy on Tuesdays.

Those are my thoughts anyhow ...

Cheers!
