Everyone I have come across that uses an ipod with Linux uses Amarok as a 
prefered method of updaing their device, flavoured in Gnome or KDE. I would 
recommend that she upgrades to the newest release of Ubuntu to get the full 
benefits of the intergation with Amarok though!
