Hi Roger,

You can try pressing 'ctrl+alt+F1 or F2 or F3 etc.

However, a good first check is to see whether CAPS LOCK works - if the
light on your keyboard doesn't go on/off, then your computer has
probably had a kernel panic - or crashed in a nasty way - which nearly
always indicates faulty hardware.

I'd strongly suggest you run e.g. memtest on your system first - it's
included on the Ubuntu install CD as one of the first options you see
when turning the computer and booting off the Cd.
