True there aren't any Universities but there are two modern colleges, with students, lecture rooms etc. and who knows maybe even some funding.

I went into the Hop Pole to suss the place out. It appears that the room
upstairs is no longer available. (its being let or something) Music is played
thurs. to sun. leaving Mon, Tue and Wed. We would be welcome to meet there
But...... They have fitted TV's with Setanta sports so if our arranged
meeting clashed with a football event....Chaos. Also parking could be a problem.

My view was that while we would be welcome ( and the Beer's OK ) the hop
pole is no longer suitable, even just to sit down and talk. Any other Ideas ?
Regards Roger.

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the Golden Cross last time.

Install parties and other events of course would need somewhere with lots
of tables, space and power but thats a completely different thing
altogether.

whilst you'd be unlikely to get any positive answer judging from my
experience, for something like an installfest, asking local
schools/community centres just might help. I know a certain school in
Bromsgrove quite well, and they ordinarily might not be of much help,
but they do value being liked in the community, so might make an
effort if asked.
Up in York, we've been able to use university rooms for such (helped
by organisation by a uni staff member), but Bromsgrove and Redditch
University isn't so large.
Just a thought
Tom

Err.. clearly I missed that road sign - there is no University in
Bromsgrove/Redditch :-)

Kat & I have/had contacts in North BHS, but I'm not sure they'd be
of
much use. Most 'Installfest' type things would take place on a weekend
(I would have thought). Were such an event ever to take place, I'd be
tempted to try e.g. the Methodist church (near the Dolphin).

For e.g. Saturday morning, I would probably offer my company office -
but that's in Redditch. (Depends on numbers and my availability etc)

My apology, I must make my sarcasm signs larger next time.

I know the warden of St Johns so getting the church hall might be easier.

I was going to have a word with Finstall First School anyway about if I could
help with showing them the educational software available on Linux.

Sorry, I was being silly. I 'saw' the sarcasm, but decided to be
stupid even so. :)
