We were experimenting with the Google group to see if it would be of
use. The same could/can be said for ELGG - the idea being that we try
different tools/sites out to see which is easiest to use to communicate
with each other and which provides some form of "social networking"
element, but it needs more than 2 or 3 of us to use these tools to
ascertain their usefulness either in isolation, or combined. For
example, I'm a member of the Redditch Astronomical Society. We have a
website, a blog site and a Yahoo group. Each is used to a varying
degree, depending on the type/nature of information being passed on to
members and they complement each other quite well, so there's no "one
site to rule them all".
