Whilst Apple OS X PPC/x86 Operating System shares much code with their iOS
Mobile Platform Operating System to make a unified O/S..
Microsoft have had three Kernels: MS-DOS / Windows CE / NT (aka IBM OS/2)
Considering that Windows 8 (NT6.2 Kernel) has been ported to ARM tablets,
they have also ported to create Windows (Nokia) Phone 8

Note: anyone old enough to use NT4 may not be aware that early ARM (Risc)
CPU architecture was supported, so it has taken 20 years for M$ to catch up
