I have found an interesting tutorial on setting up a server using virtual
box, it uses ubuntu 12.04 and netbeans. Of course I had a virtual box once
before running fedora I think, but now I am running the minimac and it is
refreshing to see linux doing its stuff on a mac platform. There are some
linux introductary tips too, which although I am aware of, it is useful to
see what is written.
I may carry on with lynda after the 11th, I find it very helpful.
