I've no idea. After I built my ZX81 I didn't get another
computer 'til I got my Psion 3a. That was 16-bit, so
I had to wait 'til I got a brace of unwanted 486s to run
*nix at home
The whole thing is a voyage of discovery for me :-)

Hold on, I've just done a search - and followed it up
with a chat with the former editor of Amiga Format :-)

You're absolutely right about this. uClinux should be fine
- however I understand that most A500s ended up
fitted with expansion (acceleration) boards - the majority
of which carried chips with MMUs.
If this one doesn't have one I imagine they are cheaply
available second hand.
I'm learning lots already - and I haven't even got my hands
on the box, yet :-)
