Martyn,
Many thanks. Good to know I can also recommend my preferred ISP to Linux
users and still offer them 1p per minute anytime access with an ISP which,
like Clara, wins awards for reliability and speed. If they ever let me down
I'll keep C2 and Clara in mind.
Many thanks again guys,
Matthew Tolley

Hi Matthew
Most ISP's say they don't support Linux - that means they can't give you
help configuring your machine. If you cannot using PPP then your OS should
be totally transparent - if doesn't work you have to sort it yourself.
BTW, my ISP is Clara, not the cheapest, but they do have an excellent
support org and are frequently voted #1 ISP for reliability, quality, speed
of connection etc.
Very highly recommended

Subject: [SC.LUG] ISPs
Hello you friendly bunch,
Matthew here with another simple, if brainless, question...
If I have an existing account with an ISP such as Freeserve or Go-plus, it
can be accessed from a Windows PC simply by dialling the right number and
entering the correct username and password.
Can I do exactly the same from a Linux PC?
These ISPs claim they don't support non-Windows OSs (except MacOS in some
cases) but since I can set up a web account with them online can I not also
dial in using kppp or similar?
Thanks in advance,
Matthew
