[SC.LUG] ISPs

I put people on 512mbit ADSL for £25 per month (inc vat) with no minimum
contract - subject to availability though. It actually seems to perform at
that level, near enough.

How does that compare in the market?

Hi All,

I can echo Jonathan's sentiments. I'm still amazed at how many
big companies will spend thousands on a server or two while simultaneously
incanting the mission critical "This is our data and without it we're
dead" mix.

They then proceed to hand this system over to "Dave" from the warehouse
who has a computer at home.... and tick off every supplier concerned when
"Dave"
can't manage the system. More on topic, I just replaced an adsl line at
customer's
premises. The line I was replacing was from a very (in)famous supplier and
was
quoted at 512mbit. MRTG revealed that this line had never sped faster than
256
in either direction.

You'll get what you pay for and if you buy cheap don't be surprised if it
isn't
any good. Why is it that cheap tat is considered a success in this
country?

Question everything and demand better.
