[SC.LUG] Samba meeting

Hi,
I recall someone asking about integrating filesystem permissions on
solaris (ufs with ACL's I presume) with microsoft NTFS ACL's . If you need
to do this and are not interested in running windows2003 then you could use
the sun "PC Netlink" software for this.

It is NOT samba (sun distribute samba with solaris now) but if you
have that specific requirement it does have advantages. It is free (as in
costs £0) and was written originally by AT&T with access to NT4 source code.
Do not expect newer versions to come out with 2003 support! However it does
however do primary and backup domain controller functionality in parallel
with windows and supports all of the windows management tools (user
manager,event viewer ...).

This is not a slur on samba. It must be a significantly difficult
thing to reverse engineer an elephant from the outside!

Has anyone got the much touted AD support in samba 3 to work? I
could find no decent documentation and was rather scared off by having to
learn kerberos and ldap in addition to the samba part.

Cheers

Andy
