Dear Sir,

I write to you regarding classes for Linux that will be starting
shortly in a community centre (http://www.skillsharepadiham.co.uk/) in
Padiham (n.r. Burnley). Our target group is mixed ability adult
learners and we aim to make all our courses available to all
regardless of experience or background. The following courses will be
made available (we hope with the support of the Linux community to set up
a small business initiative):

1)Linux in a Windows World: Definitive guide to Samba, file, print and
internet connection sharing in a windows domain. Students will experience
setting all this up properly from a newly installed
machine.
2)Home and Office Productivity: A beginners' introduction to
productivity using OpenOffice, KDE and tools such as
Kmess/Gaim/Digikam, Firefox. CD-Writing.
3)Introduction to Advanced concepts: Command prompt tools, networking and
admin tools.

Free CDs and learning materials will be made available as part of the
course (SuSE10.1, Ubuntu or Fedora Core 5) although primarily we will be
using SuSE-Linux. Skill-Share has changed peoples' lives giving long-term
unemployed the opportunity to go back to work, providing those with
learning difficulties and mental handicaps a safe
environment to learn, enjoy themselves and give their carers a break.
Also, our older folk enjoy using our facilities to learn new skills and
make friends. Unfortunately, this valuable community resource is under
serious threat due to lack of funding so a fee will be required.
I am hoping to hear from the local Linux user groups to see if there
is any help, assistance or anything that can be done to help a mutual
cause and promote Linux in the local community at a public and
commercial level.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Regards,
Chris.
