CONFERENCE and CONSULTATION

3rd May, Bridge-5 Mill, Manchester.

We are emailing you to invite you to participate in a MERCI sponsored 
consultation and conference about Free Open  Source Software in the 
Voluntary and Community Sector on May 3rd 2006 at Bridge-5 Mill
(www.merci.org.uk).

We apologise for the short notice, however we really hope that you can 
come.  We have two impressive speakers; Jono  Bacon (www.jonobacon.org) 
consultant and journalist, will be speaking about how Open Source can 
transform your IT  and where Linux is heading.

Bristol Wireless (www.bristolwireless.net) will be bringing their famous
internet  suite, built out of reclaimed laptops!

Three systems will be available to be tried and tested; Open Source
Software  (OSS) on Microsoft Windows, the Bristol  Wireless LTSP and
MERCi's Linux  training suite, you will be able to try out all three
systems and test the  various  free software applications that could
replace the software you are  currently paying for.

There are some prizes to give away, (Jono may even sign his book if we ask
 nicely), decent food, CDroms, but above  all we are aiming to provide you
with  enough information and resources to consider using OSS.

We want to show you what is available, test it with you, and ask what are
the  barriers (if any!) to using OSS.

What we want to know is how can we support your use of Open Source?

Since this is a free event, spaces are limited. Please let us know asap if
