I got a buffalo external HD 250 gig from COMET at half price sale.
I use it to back up dual boot PC XP/SuSe.
All I had to do was to repartition half of it to ext3 using, dare I
say, Windows version of Partition Magic-8.
but you don't need windoze to use it, the PM-8 CD is bootable.
For XP I use XXCOPY (NOT XCopy) in a batch file then compiled with
bat2com and then a shortcut on the desktop.
In Suse I just use KDE desktop to copy over the saved_work partition
to the Ext3 partition on the buffalo HD.
Ubuntu sees it too. As far as I know any modern HD in either an
external USB2 caddy or in an internal IDE HD caddy will work in both
Linux and Windoze. Note with Linux you can back up windoze, with
windoze you cant even see the linux files.
