1. Please make sure the subject of your message always follows the format shown in these examples: 

OFFER: Standard Lamp (Crewe and Nantwich)
WANTED: Curtains (Crewe and Nantwich)
TAKEN: Standard Lamp
RECEIVED: Curtains 

WHY? Group members receive huge numbers of e-mails every day.  They want to be able to see at one glance whether an item may  interest them. Also, some people use their e-mail software to  automatically sort messages into different folders - so it is very important to be accurate (e.g. always write 'OFFER:' not 'Giving  away...')

2. More information about the item (colour, condition,  etc.) should be in the body of the e-mail.

3. For a wanted, no need for elaborate justifications on why you need something - just a basic description of the item will do. 

WHY? Freecycle groups are primarily about keeping things out of the  landfill, and helping those who are in need is only an added bonus.  If you put a 'sob story' in your 'WANTED:...', eventually everyone  will feel they have to do this so they can post a 'WANTED:...'. 

4. When offering an item, it is essential that you put your location in the subject. WHY? We don't all have cars and it helps those who can't get around so  easily to decide whether to respond to an offer. Any questions, e-mail creweandnantwichfreecycle-owner at yahoogroups.com.
