If you'd like to join your neighbouring LUG in a
trip to Bletchley Park, then please see below.
I'll be at the Chorlton Big Green Fair that
day manning the Manchester Free Software stall,
otherwise I'd love to be there :)

*Bletchley Park*
Historic site of secret British codebreaking activities during WWII and
birthplace of the modern computer.
I have been talking about this trip for ages. Since there will not be a
club meeting next month (as our room is has been booked) then this trip
will provide a computer chat outlet.
Date: Saturday 27th March 2010
Time: 10:30 - 4pm
Cost: £10 on the door OR £8.50 prepurchased online; £7.00 for students
and over 60's.
Interestingly the ticket is valid for a year so constitutes a
membership. See this link for actual prices and to buy your ticket
before they go up!

Before anybody asks. The clocks spring forward that Saturday night
(27/28th Mar) and opening hours are extended the following week. But it
is only 100miles from Shrewsbury so a return visit within 12 months is a
possibility if you want more.
Transport: Private Car or Public transport. Please let me know if you
are coming and if you need a lift or have a car space. Feel free to
email me directly at condover at yahoo.com <mailto:condover at yahoo.com>
Given the small numbers who attend most events I would be very surprised
if the number of respondents warranted a minibus; plus our geographic
spread is quite large.
Group Activities: Meet at gate 10:30 or lunch in the canteen (I have not
researched this aspect!) at 12:30 or again at gate at 4pm for goup photo
and farewells. Events and lectures on the day are announced at the
entrance. In short do your own thing most of the time.
I attended an evening lecture in Sydney once about Bletchley Park. The
best bit for me was how the cable network was extended to Darwin for the
war in the Pacific. Rather predating ARPANET. I want to see the rebuilt
Colossus computer. There are a lot of different aspects to the museum.
