Are you sure the file .bash_profile is being executed? I only ask because
since I switched to a bash shell (as of Mac OS 10.3 the default shell is
bash instead of tcsh), I found that the file was being ignored. Try
something like:
echo "It works"
to see. I don't have a solution, but I hope that helps you find the
problem 8)

Also is Mandrake really your surname?
