[SLUG] How do I tell if Linux supports my intended graphics card?

Or is it a non-question. There's nothing about setting up graphics
cards in the LPI stuff (the word 'graphics' doesn't appear anywhere in
either of the Junior admin objectives), so should I just buy the card
and assume it'll work? It's a costly risk is all.
