I'm afraid that I don't have a great deal of knowledge on this...
however, I do know that it is possible with many modern mobile phones to
use the mobile phone as a modem.
For example, I have a Sony Ericsson K700i, it is possible to connect it
to the PC using either bluetooth (preferred as there are more forum
posts!) or usb. You then choose the internet access method on the mobile
phone - preferably GPRS as it's quicker, but perhaps normal GSM as it's
cheaper.
I've been trying to get my mobile and pc talking using linux with plenty
of frustration, however mobile<-->windows appears to be reasonably well
supported and attempted. You need bluetooth drivers or whatever, set an
option for it to behave as a serial device, then connect to it via
dial-up-networking. You may need a little bit of support from your
mobile network provider, but the phone itself should need minimal
configuration.
I don't think that will help you that much, but do discuss more if you like.
Steve
