[SLUG] Debian help please

Hi folks
Back on list after a year or so absence.

Just loaded Debian 'etch' onto my Toshiba Satelite laptop via 'netinstall'. No 
problem. I can download any new programs with 'aptitude', Sound Juicer finds 
CD tracks from the internet no problem but ----- Epiphany, Evolution, Ice 
Weasel and Liferea all report "Unable to contact network" or similar 
messages. Have checked all the settings and all appear to be ok. What am I 
missing? I am using broadband via D-Link G064AT router (hardwired). 

SuSE 10.2 has worked perfectly with no modification of settings. Just felt 
like a change. I seem to remember having the same problem trying to 
install 'sarge' on the main computer but gave up and installed SuSE instead.
