I had wondered that was my only recourse... I wasn't sure about doing 
that  because I do allow http/https inbound for testing so if someone 
compromised my web server they would be able to trash my home folder too.

man chmod has been useful for learning about sticky bits... thanks for 
your help Ross, it's appreciated.
