I think this is because I wrote a PHP script to extract the images from 
a database. So PHP owns the files. When I try to mess around with them 
in FTP, I'm not the owner so I'm denied. Usually images would be pushed 
across by me by FTP, so FTP would be the owner and I wouldn't normally 
get these problems.
