Hello World.
Ok this may sound like a silly problem but it has me stumped.
Google has been bugg3r all help.
I am attempting to upgrade my "Crash n Burn" box to RedHat 9,
downloaded the ISO's and burned them myself (MD5's were fine).
All CD's burned ok, however I cant boot of the install disk,
GRUB comes up with all the boot options fine but when I
select install the kernel does not start to boot.
eg
boot: [enter]
Loading vmlinuz......
Loading initrd.img.....
[clear screen]
-hang-
I have tried the noprobe, text options etc but their kernel
does not want to play.
I mounted the install disk in another box and created a
floppy boot image...
#cd /mnt/cdrom/images
#dd if=./bootdisk.img of=/dev/fd0 bs=16k
This process seams to work, but after rebooting I get the following
SYSLINUX 2.00 2002-10-25 Boot failed.
So any suggestions would be a great help,
I have tried the CD's in another old crap box (a HP Vectra
VLi8 P2 400, 128Mb all IDE) and the boot fine. Ran the "Check
media" option and everything passed.
BTW I have tried all boot options like "linux noprobe" that I know of.
Hardware spec:
HP Kayak XU (D6335N)
Single p2 Xeon
Adaptec AIC-7880 with one HDD attached
IDE CDROM on Pri Master
128Mb RAM
BTW RH8, 7.3 Debian, Gentoo, winnt all boot fine from my CDROM.
Any ideas?
Leon
