[sclug] usb woes

I am trying to get an Actiontec usb wireless adapter working and the
error messages seem to be usb-related. [Background: RH 8.0, 2.4.19,
linux-wlan-ng-0.1.15] The first indication in dmesg of something
wrong is like this

hfa384x_usbin_rx: Invalid frame type, fc=3330, dropped.
hfa384x_usbin_rx: Invalid frame type, fc=3330, dropped.
hfa384x_usbin_rx: Invalid frame type, fc=3330, dropped.
usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_CONTROL failed dev 2 rqt 128 rq 6 len 0 ret -110

(but mount says that usbdevfs is mounted on /proc/bus/usb which looks ok).
Where do I look for more about what this is trying to tell me?
