I would like to close the windows, but it is more practical to use dual
boot for as long as it takes to accommodate things. One machine is a
simple file server, with a tape and HDs, for storage and backup, on a
peer-peer small lan. I have used OO.org for a while now, and Mozilla
also. This accounts for almost all of the PC use. Not yet dealt with is
the radio/audio - bbc digital etc, but it is not urgent.
Being totally new to linux entirely I have got into any number of
amusing (looking back that is) scrapes. Anyway, my long win experience
has allowed me to be a bit relaxed about re-installing (!)
I keep getting to a point where I think I am confident in the basics to
use it on a machine I am going to rely on, when I find something that
does not make sense. Even minor bugs in a new suse distro have been a
major holdup (for me) because I simply did not know what to expect or
how to react!
Getting better at it slowly though.

Thanks - I think I saw the date on the website? I will love to come
along (from as far as bracknell....) unfortunately I have a visit to
relatives then, so I cannot come. Are the meets regular? I think I know
where it is - how do people get there - is car parking possible?
(advisable?)
I am often in Reading during wednesdays, but by car, and am usually
finished before 4pm.
