If this latter is the case then it wasn't really "engineer-installed".
What the ISP means is that a BT installed ADSL line where a BT engineer
actually physically installed it will have special magic on the account
which means you can't do the normal:
- get MAC from old ISP
- give MAC to new ISP
- have a seamless migration 5-10 days later
They're quite rare though now really. Ask your old ISP for a MAC anyway
and see what happens?
