[sclug] Single user, CTRL-C/Z problem

Hi all

I've booted a RHEL 3 box into single user with init=/bin/bash (yes I 
know single as a boot param would do the same trick).

I then remount FS rw and sourced all the bashrc / profile scripts.

However CTRL-C, CTRL-Z  etc isn't working

I've confirmed with stty that INTR is set correctly and even set it to 
another key.
No joy.

I've really no idea why this doesn't work. Can someone shed some light ?
I'm more interested in WHY this doesn't work than actually fixing it 
(I've worked round it).

Enlightenment appreciated !
