[sclug] Moving /var to another parition

I'm having some problems with my /var parition running out of space. It's 1G
partition but with Ubuntu it is already full - I've deleted all the logs and
so on, but it fills up rapidly everytime I reboot.

Can anyone suggest why? 1G seems a decent size, and  was more than adequate
for Mandriva or Suse, when I used those.
