You can also run MythTV on the backend (recording/storage) and XBMC as
the frontend player (using DLNA, or I believe there's a MythTV plugin
for it) - XBMC is available for many platforms.
If installing MythTV seems a bit daunting, and you can install
clean-slate, try the Mythbuntu pre-built Linux system.
