Systems Manager
Purpose of Job
- Lead the Network team to achieve business goals
- Provide strategic systems knowledge
- Deliver an outstanding service to clients through delivery of
worldwide applications on an a model
- Enhance the capability of the team to deliver value
- Develop a plan and implement a project to produce a new, scalable
version of the current architecture as part of a wider company program
to re-architecture their core products
Key Responsibilities:
- Part of the engineering management team
- Act as the company duty manager as part of a rota system
- Ensure technical excellence of the systems delivered to customers
- Ensure smooth operation of office infrastructure
- Develop the capabilities of the Systems / Networking team
- Manage the delivery of projects to meet the expectations of clients
- Enhance system quality by the continuous improvement of the department
processes
- Ensure high levels of morale and productivity within the department
- Introduce a system of KPIs to measure department performance
- Introduce a training matrix for staff
- Resolve cross functional issues with other departments
- Facilitate response to production incidents
- Provide good visibility of activities within the department and early
warning of issues
- Provide support for other departments as required
- Deputise for the Head of Engineering as required
- Any other activities as directed by the Head of Engineering
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in leading system support teams
- Excellent relevant technical background (Linux, Windows, 24*7
operations, security)
- Ability to be hands on and respond to out of hours events
- Ability to deal with technical issues and prioritise response actions
to provide best support for the client
- Ability to communicate technical issues effectively to management and
clients
- Proven ability to interface successfully with other parts of a business
Desirable Additional Skills
- Experienced in working in an environment with tight time scales.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
General Skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good ability to progress simultaneous, high-profile, high-priority
issues.
- Good inter-personal / communication skills
- Confident working in a small company environment.
- Degree qualified or equivalent
Additional Information
- The position will require some participation in out of hours working
as the company services are provided to customers throughout the world.
