OK, however if someone used his time and a £0·70 disk to produce an install 
of Ubuntu then the investment in time and effort is less likely to tie him 
to the distribution he has if it doesn't work for him, another £0·70 disk 
is not likely to prove an insuperable obstacle. However from his 
description of the problem he just wants a multi-media capable GNU/Linux 
distro.
