The BCS Glasgow branch's next meeting will be on March 13th at 1830 in the
IET Teacher Building. The event is free and open to all.

Topic:         Virtual and Augmented Reality

Synopsis:
The expansive revolution of VR headsets has recently introduced VR in
everyday life primarily for entertainment purposes. A plethora of
applications and systems however have - for some years now - been in
development, focusing mostly in the use of Virtual and Augmented reality
in the amelioration/enhancement of everyday activities, out-with the
realm of entertainment. This lecture aims to present some of the
existing projects currently undertaken at University level and their
potential applications in the wider community. Future trends and
projected expectations for these technologies in the next decade will
also be discussed.

Speaker:
Professor Vassilis Charissis is a Professor of Human Computer
Interaction at Glasgow Caledonian University
He has extensive industry experience and developed prototype vehicles
and Human Computer Interaction systems for Alfa Romeo, Lancia, FIAT and
Ford US. He has also been awarded two international first places for
prototype design and engineering in the automotive industry competitions
for FIAT and Opel.
