first off it not a case of install every thing on all 7 of the cd's for a star
the last one and the best part of 6 are the source code for all the packeage's
on the other 5 disk's..

how ever to install other software off the cd's use the yast2, which can be
started from the third menu in in the bottom left of the kde bar, if u've got
kde installed that is, other wise at a console 'yast2' should do the trick, to
review instlled packegs, select the software menu on yast2 and hit
install/remove, now this is one big list of the software, devied into diffrent
cattogires, take ur time to broows round and install what ever u feel u might
need, (personal i've installed suse more time's than i care to rember, been
using it since version 6.3, so i know my way round the list prety well,)

scanner i cant really help with

cd-burner, this depens on what u've got but mostlikly u wont need a drive
installed, u just ave to set it up right, which yast2 may ave all ready done,

i sugest reading this suse article on it
http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/tbraza_ide_brenner.html

how ever as a quick pointer, is it an ide cd-rw??? if so check lilo has an
append line something like "hdX=ide-scsi" were X is your cd-rw, look
in /etc/lilo.conf

as for insernet connection what are u on??
bt adsl with a speed tocuh is easy (im on it, suse all ready comes half setup
for it)
ntl cable is even easier if ur running of the rj-45 socket
as for 56k modem, just hope ur using a winmodem

hope that helps

matt
