For the price of a couple of NICs and a CAT5e, you could set up network
sharing on the Windows machine and then use SMB on the Linux machine. If you
use the smb IOSlave you can do virtually anything -- ie in your browser
window on the Linux box, type smb:/xxx where xxx is the machine name, share
name and path so I could, on my system type
smb:/amethyst/pcpluswp/215/sources and I would get my work directory up for
this month. From the Linux machine, I can pull files from the windows
machine and push them onto it using this.
If I open up a file browser (so there are two Konquerors - one (web) for smb
and the other (file) for local files) I can drag and drop files from any
system to any system (as long as one of them is the box I'm working on) just
using the mouse.
All of that without mounting network shares using fstab:-)
