Congratulations!

There is no 'best' Linux distro, all the various brands have
their supporters and detractors. I personally favour
Mandrake or Fedora for my main machine as I find that they
are friendly and my favourite applications are well supported
(I use synaptic to obtain and install the rpm files). I like to use
Slackware for my laptop; it's an older machine with less memory
and runs much snappier and more responsively, even using
KDE, than any of the other distros I've tried. That won't be
an issue for you though I don't think, since you have a nice
modern whizz-bang box.

I've often had showstopper problems with SuSE, and
haven't got on with it in general, but others have had
different experiences of course, inevitably since we all
use different combinations of hardware, window managers
and applications, and differing levels of expertise and
experience.
