I've searched SourceForge in the past.  If you search for a catagory, you
generally find about 20 results, 10 of which are a blank page, 5 haven't
released any files, 3 have a load of ideas and nothing else and the
remaining two are beta 0.00000001!

So, yeah, search SF and join some projects.  You don't necesarilly need to
be a coder, designers, documenters, etc, etc, are all required and in
fairly short supply.
