I would like to try to get some meetings set up for the new year somewhere near to Yeovil. Is anyone else interested in doing this and possibly have an idea where we could meet? -- Registered Linux User #466407 http://counter.li.org From phil at pwood.net Wed Nov 11 12:42:10 2009 From: phil at pwood.net (Phil Wood) Date: Wed, 11 Nov 2009 12:42:10 -0000 Subject: [Ssom] South Somerset LUG In-Reply-To: <200911111201.28751.sslug@mfraz.orangehome.co.uk> References: <200911111201.28751.sslug@mfraz.orangehome.co.uk> Message-ID: <4AFAB119.2090308@pwood.net> Hi Mark. I'd certainly be interested. The Dorset group meet in a pub and that seems to work quite well. The problem seems to be finding a pub that is quiet enough to hold a conversation and has wifi. The first is probably more important, along with decent beer of course. I did come across a website that listed pubs with wifi. I'll try and find it again. Could be a good excuse to try a few of them out. I've emailed the LUG.org.uk admins a couple of times, but no response as yet. I'll keep trying though, hoping to set up a basic forum/drupal type site with a couple of admins so hopefully the site will look a little less 'empty' soon. As for meetings, some of the local schools are quite happy to host some events, but the connectivity side of things may be a little poor (most of them have their own proxy server that then uplinks to another, not always easy to accommodate anything other than systems configured by County or themselves). I've not approached any local pubs, but I'm sure one or two with both Wifi and a skittle alley may be worth trying. -----Original Message----- From: ssom-bounces at mailman.lug.org.uk [mailto:ssom-bounces at mailman.lug.org.uk] On Behalf Of Mark Fraser Sent: 11 November 2009 12:16 To: darren Subject: [Ssom] South Somerset LUG It's been a while since I've seen anything posted in this mailing list and www.ssom.lug.org.uk redirects to lug.org.uk.
